This is one of the first
pictures I have taken of Gioka. The picture was taken the day we bought her.
At this moment Gioka had just been taken away from her brothers and sisters
and had just met us.

This picture was taken on
Gioka's second day with us. We had just arrived at a local recreation park
and Gioka was still a bit timid when she explored the grass.

Gioka is a real digger, she
loves to dig up stuff, hide cookies by burying them, or simply dig holes for
no apparent reason. The sand on her snout testifies that she had just done
some digging or shoveling.

In this picture Gioka is
quite a bit bigger already, it is one of the pictures I took during the
shooting period for ADITL 4. I like the powerful effect one obtains by putting
a wide angle right in her face. Unlike the position of the leash seems to
suggest, she was not being pulled upwards but rather she was just playing with
the plants.

This is a studio shot, just
for the occassion I had quickly set-up a simple studio with a white background
and a black piece of cloth on which Gioka could lie down. The lighting set-up
was a straightforward twin flash set-up with both flashes firing into small
white umbrellas at 45 degree angles of Gioka (to the left the T32, to the
right the T28 in single head mode). White diffusers were also used at both
sides of Gioka. The lighting was done in TTL mode, rather than using manual
flash.

This is another studio shot
taken during the same session as the previous shot. Gioka was fully relaxed
now and started to chew away on one of her chewing toys. This scan worked out
much better than the previous one.

Later that same day, we
were lucky to have some beautiful light during the golden hours. At first I
was tired and was thinking of taking a raincheck on taking more pictures, but
in the end I got motivated enough to bring out the camera and shoot a
complete roll of Provia F of several subjects. I'm glad I did, as the day
after, the grass had been cut so all the nice little flowers were gone and it
had rained during the night, leaving the grass in a messy state.

Another picture from this
session. In this picture one can see really well just how quickly puppies grow.
Gioka is much bigger already in this picture than in the first few pictures
shown on this page. A lot of the typical fluffy-puppy features are gone
already and each day Gioka is turning more and more into an adolescent dog.
