Mystical Me

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Jodi Jakeway
Title: Mystical Me
Gear used: OM-2000 + 50/1.4 + tripod + cable release
Aperture: F11
Shutter speed: 1/60
Film used: Kodak Tri-X 400 ISO
Technical information: I did a double exposure to make myself look 'mystical'.
Subject information: This wasn't intended to be a self-portrait, but I have these great criss-cross trees in the middle of my woods and thought a double exposure with someone underneath would look interesting. I couldn't get anyone to walk a half-mile into the woods, so I used the self-timer and shot myself.

I like the spooky effect of the double exposure in this picture.

The technique fits the composition perfectly. Nice work.

Comment left by: Giles (cnocbui@indigo.ie) Nice idea and it worked out well

Comment left by: Ron Spolarich (caesar2@mediaone.net) I'm going to have to try one of these. Great idea!

Comment left by: John A. Lind (jlind@netusa1.net) Geez! Thought I would be the only one with a double exposure. ;-) Good eye and imagination to see the shot. You placed yourself extremely well between the trees; great job on composing, framing and exposing it! Olafo is right; has an eerie feel to it.

Comment left by: tracy lou (mghmag@yahoo.com) Hey... I've never seen this one! It is awesome! You are way too ambitous... I'm glad you are my friend... or you just might be "the compitition" :O) I'm off to look at Megan. I'm assuming it is her on your portrait...

Comment left by: Roy Talbot (rtalbot@laborready.com) Jodi, I like the two "V's" in the photo. Great idea to center ones eye in the middle of the photo. The double exposure is telling me that mother nature has sprong up to make everything green again. Good B&W using this.
