Macro Portrait

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Alexander Wilson
Title: Macro Portrait
Gear Used: OM4 + Auto tube 65 - 116 + Zuiko 50 mm macro + T32
Diaphragm: f22
Shutter Speed: 1/60
Film used: Fuji Sensia II 200 ASA
Technical Information: T32 on remote cord, placed at varying distances with varying apertures.
Subject information: I used the chromed spheres on a magnetic ornament to achieve the distorted reflections. The largest sphere in the shot is about 1 CM diameter. I had great difficulty finding the correct aperture and flash distance since I could not see the exposure verification light on the T32 or in the viewfinder.
As you can see, it's still not quite right!

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (ogreve@web-wizards.com) How do you mean "it's still not quite right"?
I think it worked out brilliantly!
In the lower sphere your face is nicely in focus, and perfectly fitted in between the reflection of the lens (which is also nicely visible), and of the other spheres.
The fact that your face is not in focus on all of the spheres for me doesn't take anything away from the end result.
Great shot!!!

Comment left by: B.B. Bean (bbbean@beancotton.com) VERY nice!

Comment left by: Ron Spolarich (caesar2@mediaone.net) I haven't tried macro yet Alex but this is surely an excellent composition! I like the multiple reflections.

Comment left by: Giles (cnocbui@indigo.ie) Very nicely done. I agree with Olaf.

Comment left by: Alasdair Mackintosh (vanda@dtn.ntl.com) Beautifully done, and one of the more inventive choices of a reflective surface.

I like the look on your face as well; there's a certain
(and in the circumstances unjustified) anxious concern about how well the picture is going to turn out.

Comment left by: Carlos Santisteban (cjss@supercable.es) Beautiful picture!

I think it is quite right, and you are recognisable.
