Comment left by: Olaf Greve (olaf_greve@hotmail.com) The picture conveys the idea of your "despair" over having to be in the office, instead of being able to play outside with your toys. The panoramic format adds to that. Funny :)

Comment left by: John A. Lind (jlind@netusa1.net) Yet another great exposure with ambient light and another excellent use of a wide angle.

[With as many wides and super-wides that have been used so successfully for this TOPE, I'm asking myself if I really *want* that 100/2 Zuiko for portraits, or if a 21/2 or 35/2 in addition to the other wides I have might not work better!]

I really like the camera placement at desktop level which means you must have cropped out the bottom half leaving the pano style finished image. Works extremely well.

Normally you would place a subject off center (to the right in this case), but in imagining what it would look like that way I think centered in this is better given the symmetric balance of the office walls and desk. A person off center on the desk just wouldn't look quite right.

Well done; I know the feeling this conveys all to well when I'm stuck in my office during good photog weather.

Comment left by: Wiliam Wagenaar (wiliam2@wish.net) I like the idea behind the picture (As Olaf sai I wish I was outdoors with my OM toys) as well as the cropping in panorama format.

Comment left by: Ron Spolarich (caesar2@mediaone.net) I agree with John Lind's comments. This image conveys a sense of contemplation. The dimension created by cropping above and below has compressed and focused our eyes on you, the subject. (Your lucky you've got windows!) Excellent image.

Comment left by: Gregg Iverson (giverson@webkorner.com) I can imagine this in the middle of the Cherry Blossom season. It becomes all the more filled with emotion if I think of you as one of the many secretive types that work in the area. John said it all in regards to technique.

Comment left by: Vicki (vanda@dtn.ntl.com) Loved the way the two lightsources are used to heighten the atmosphere: the internal light is so pale and wan compared to the brilliance of the sunlight tantalisingly entering through the window. The solid black bar of the desk across the bottom is also a nice note in emphasising the unusual dimensions of the picture.

Comment left by: Carlos Santisteban (cjss@supercable.es) Superb self-portrait! The smooth transition between the two light sources is fantastic. The use of a 28mm and panorama-cropping is an excellent idea. And I think the composition is perfect.

I'm impressed with this picture. Really well done, Rick!

Comment left by: Philip Kightlinger (pkightli@trucking.org) Nice shot, good composition.

Hope life is treating you well.
