Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) The backlight on the hair works well in this picture.

Comment left by: Alasdair Mackintosh (vanda@dtn.ntl.com) Agree with Olaf's comment about the backlighting. Take it out and the picture would be much less effective.

Interesting use of focus too - the front of the lens is the point in sharpest focus, and the eye keeps moving from this to the slightly out-of-focus face, trying to decide which is more important.

I'm not sure that the scanning does this justice, though. The contrast is fairly low, and I would have thought that with a bit of adjustment the picture could be improved. I saved a local copy, loaded it in Photoshop, and did an "auto-level" adjustment. The result looked much better. (Obviously it all depends on your monitor and your grpahics card, not to mention your personal preference.)

Comment left by: Ian Nichols (i.a.nichols@bris.ac.uk) I notice also that it's the wrong way around, i.e. taken into a mirror and not reversed after scanning. Unless you have a very rare left-handed OM-1.

Hello,
yes you have reason, I don't have reversed the picture. Mmmh.....this is not
a professional portrait.....surely !! :-))))
However I like this (reversed) version, I find it less " static" .

Thank you
Tiziana

Comment left by: Carlos Santisteban (cjss@supercable.es) The backlight on the hair is great. The contrast between the sharp lens front and the slightly defocused face is interesting, too. The hood on the lens is also impressive!

Comment left by: Roy Talbot (rtalbot@laborready.com) Great photo. It draws my attention to the center of the photo as your eye is there. I also agree with the backlighting.
