The backlight on the hair works well in this picture.

Agree with Olaf's comment about the backlighting. Take it out and the picture would be much less effective. Interesting use of focus too - the front of the lens is the point in sharpest focus, and the eye keeps moving from this to the slightly out-of-focus face, trying to decide which is more important. I'm not sure that the scanning does this justice, though. The contrast is fairly low, and I would have thought that with a bit of adjustment the picture could be improved. I saved a local copy, loaded it in Photoshop, and did an "auto-level" adjustment. The result looked much better. (Obviously it all depends on your monitor and your grpahics card, not to mention your personal preference.)

I notice also that it's the wrong way around, i.e. taken into a mirror and not reversed after scanning. Unless you have a very rare left-handed OM-1.

The backlight on the hair is great. The contrast between the sharp lens front and the slightly defocused face is interesting, too. The hood on the lens is also impressive!

Great photo. It draws my attention to the center of the photo as your eye is there. I also agree with the backlighting.
