Submitter's name: Mark Marr-Lyon
Gear used: OM-2n, 16/3.5, Winder 2, remote release, and Velcro.
Diaphragm: f8
Shutter speed: About 1/30 or so.
Film used: Fuji Sensia II 400
Technical information: The camera was attached to the top of my instrument rack with Velcro. As you may be able to tell, lighting on the plane isn't very friendly to photography, so some digital trickery was used to rescue my underexposed slide.
Subject information: Here I am during the zero-gravity portion of a parabolic maneuver on NASA's KC-135 "Vomit Comet" aircraft. Our flight this time was scheduled during NASA's undergraduate student campaign, which was a lot of fun. The student on the far right is experiencing her first parabola :-)

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Great shot!
Without any doubt one of the most original entries in the whole gallery!

Comment left by: Gary Edwards (no e-mail specified) I thought mine was pretty original, but you've got me beat, Mark. You ought to give Tom Scales credit for the courageous loan of his Zuiko 16/3.5, considering what might be flying about in that cabin. . .

And what about the masked man on the floor?

Comment left by: Mark Marr-Lyon (no e-mail specified) Oh yes, rest assured that I wasn't going to let Tom's generosity go unnoticed! I am going to send a summary of our week to the list in the next few days, as well as scan in some of my other photos and put them on the web.

Also, I don't know how original the photograph is, since I am just lucky enough to be able to participate in a rather unique experience, but thanks for the kind words. I certainly feel that other photos in this gallery (including yours, Gary) are much more creative than mine.

The "masked man on the floor" is a woman, and is the other member of one of Purdue's teams. The "mask" is just their Supplemental Fluids Experiment Containment Device (barf bag) sticking out of a pocket. Until you get used to the experience, it is a good idea to have them very handy.

I never got to do cool stuff like that when I was in College! [Might have held my interest if so!]

Comment left by: Phil Pemberton (no e-mail specified) Great photo!
Probably the most original entry in the entire gallery!
In a word, "Cool!"

Comment left by: Gregg Iverson (giverson@webkorner.com) Mark,

You have upheld the tradition of excellence long experienced by Olympus. It's good to see the OM fly again.

I'm sure many would recognize the inside of a "barf bag" from college! But the location is unique. I am green with envy (if I were there I might be green for another reason). I would enjoy hearing more about your work.

Comment left by: Barry Bean (bbbean@beancotton.com) This is cooler than cool. Not only did you manage to come up with a creative use for the 16, but you managed to compose a picture that tells us a lot about you. And to think you did this in (close to) zero G!
