You know what? I'm happy...

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Donald MacDonald
Title: You know what? I'm happy...
Gear used: OM1n + Zuiko 35mm f2, and a granite boulder.
Diaphragm: I'd be guessing.
Shutter speed: 1/125
Film used: Kodachrome 64 ASA
Technical information: Self-timer on the OM1n, focus on the rock I'm sitting on (You can just see grass on me from lying down setting up), cup of water already filled. It didn't come out quite as expected, because I remember thinking I wanted the background a bit more out of focus. I cropped the right and bottom of the frame just a little, to get a composition I liked.
Subject information: I have camped at this spot since about 1976. On the Derry Burn, near Derry Lodge at NO 042 935, some 15km from Braemar. It's a lot busier than it used to be, but because of the foot-and-mouth scare the place was deserted. It's only half posed, because I was sitting remembering 25 years of happy times and I thought "this would make a perfect TOPE 1, because I come alive about half a mile out from the car park on the way here. This is me..."

Nice shot.

Comment left by: Carlos Santisteban (cjss@supercable.es) Nice shot in a lovely place! Great composition, too. You don't seem to be bothered by the dark clouds in the sky...

Comment left by: eric (no e-mail specified) It is a nice photo. You know I think I would like to see the opposite of what you were trying to get with background out of focus. I would like to see absolutely clear background and more of it, and you even closer to the camera so we can see how satisfied you are with your surroundings and those surrounding that are satisfying you. I think such an 18 mm lens set quite close to you maybe 6 feet . Interesting to see the 1/125 shutter and the water flow. I think it was a good choice. Not too much flow, not too little flow of water, sort of natural how we see water.
