Drive-by shooting.

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Walt Wayman
Title: Drive-by shooting.
Gear used: Olympus Camedia C-2000 Z digital camera + Tiffen polarizer + Bogen tripod, Gitzo head and Cullmann quick-attach adapter + voice-activated cohabitant shutter release.
Diaphragm: f/8
Shutter speed: Unknown
Technical information: With both hands full, it wasn’t possible to use the remote control, and the self-timer went off too quickly for old and slow folks to get in the truck, grab the cameras and assume the position, so I used a favorite, handy-dandy accessory (wife) to trip the shutter. Does that mean it’s not REALLY a self-portrait?
Subject information: The camera in the right hand, held out the moonroof, is an OM-4Ti with motor drive, which has actually been used in such a fashion on occasion. (Ever have to clean bug guts off a lens?) Since it’s not practical to use an Oly with only the left hand, the other camera is a 6x9 Graflex XLRF, which I chose because of its left-handed grip. It’s a great poor man’s medium-format camera, using Zeiss and Rodenstock lenses.

Nice one, and although technically spoken not a self portrait, it works too well to disallow it. ;)

Comment left by: Eric Pederson (epederso@darkwing.uoregon.edu) I bet your wife much prefers the technical term "voice-activated cohabitant shutter release" to "slave shutter release" as an analogy with flash units would suggest! :-)
Nice portrait, but how do you operate a cell phone while driving like that???

Comment left by: Chris Barker (ftog@threeshoes.co.uk) I rather like this shot now Walt; I didn't when first I saw it... but now I do ;-)

Comment left by: Ian Manners (ian@comkal.net) I think it portrays Walt to a 'T', it's just missing the weapons dont you think ?

Comment left by: Hans van Veluwen (no e-mail specified) Rest in peace, OM brother.

Comment left by: Charlie Geilfuss (Charles.Geilfuss@HCAhealthcare.com) I haven't looked at this shot of Walt in a long time and I'd forgotten how well it portrays him. Rest easy my friend. The place won't be the same without you.
