Relaxing at the oasis

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Enrique Cabrera
Title: Relaxing at the oasis
Gear used: OM-2s + Zuiko 35/3.5 + self-timer
Diaphragm: Do not remember (not very good at this)
Shutter speed: Possibly 1/125
Film used: Fuji Sensia 400
Technical information: Spot metered some other guy and patiently waited for the shutter. Was specially worried about the African backlight (this picture was taken at noon specially close to the equator). At least something came out.
Subject information: I had been for quite a while shooting bad pictures of my face (nothing to do with the equipment, really) and finally found one suitable for TOPE. After a whole morning on a game ride at the Murchinson Falls park in Uganda, time for a "Nile" beer at pool bar, at the lodge. Really felt like finding an oasis. Not that this picture was any better than the others, but the setting was.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Very nice relaxed shot!
You handled the tough backlighting situation excellently, and I really like the hat and cobweb-like background.

Comment left by: bbbean (bbbean@beancotton.com) Very well exposed. I would have guessed you'd used fill flash, given the even lighting of your face with a wide brimmed hat.

Comment left by: Carlos Santisteban (cjss@supercable.es) Really nice picture in a quite exotic place! The extreme backlighting is perfectly handled.

¡Muy bien, Enrique!
