One Scoop, please.

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Mickey Trageser
Title: One Scoop, please.
Gear used: OM-4T + Zuiko 50/3.5 + extension tubes + Manfrotto 3021BN tripod + Manfrotto ballhead 486 RC2 + cable release + ice cream scoop.
Diaphragm: f16
Shutter speed: Automatic, 1/2 second or so.
Film used: Fuji 100 Reala .
Technical information: Heavy digital manipulation to bring up contrast and saturation.
Subject information: Trying out some macro equipment I recently purchased from our favorite enabler, Tom S. The reflection in the chrome scoop shows distortion, apparantly not designed for optical use... It makes the lens look as if it alone is mounted to the tripod, with the cable release attached to it. Lighting was supplied by reflected sunlight through the window. The lens is a bit rounder than the photo suggests. :-)

tricky shot to get right, nicely done!

Comment left by: Chris Barker (ftog@threeshoes.co.uk) Very clever Mickey, very original thought. The result is amazingly sharp considering the optical surface!

What were we talking about? Oh yes, the photo. I presume your head, like the lens, is a bit less "distorted" than that too You've managed to combine my two great loves in one photo (I think I've made at least one of them pretty obvious by now). Good shot - the relative clarity of the front of the lens makes you feel like you're in the gunsights.
