Self Portait #1 w/flashes

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Pat Webb
Title: Self Portait #1 w/flashes
Gear used: OMPC with 35-70mm f3.5 lens, Soligor 1.5X teleconverter, Vivitar 283 flash bounced off the ceiling with an auxillary flash: Sears and Robuck "easi-lite" attached to a Wein photovoltaic slave placed on a coffee table to the right of the frame.
Aperture used: f8
Shutter speed: 1/30th
Film used: Kodak Kodachrome 64
Subject information: Since this shot I have acquired an OM4 body, 135mm macro with telescopic tube, 21mm wide angle, 28mm wide angle, 50mm standard lens, OM Winder, Intervalometer, several filters, cable releases, and other doodads, oh and another OM4T body with an f280 synchroflash. But I have always liked this shot as I can't have the beard anymore...or the hair in my work. :)
Digital technique: I scan all my slides in with an Olympus ES-10 parallel film scanner. In addition, I also have an HP 4200c flatbed that I occasionally use for print scanning. And Adobe software to usually lighten these images a touch to get them to do well digitally. Other than cropping, not much else happens to them.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Well, what's not to like in this shot?
It's a nice shot with an interesting composition and good natural looking lighting (I couldn't detect any flash having been used in this shot!).
Nicely done!

Comment left by: the photog (no e-mail specified) Wanting to have complete control over the lighting, I waited until after dark, shut off the incandescent lighting in the room, and set up this shot.
