Through a Mirror Darkly

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Graeme Pow
Title: Through a Mirror Darkly
Gear used: OM-1n + Zuiko 50/1.8
Diaphragm: f1.8
Shutter speed: 1/60
Film used: ILFORD FP4 Plus 125
Technical information: This is my first indoor shot using natural light (from a translucent window to my left) and lens wide open. I used my early, silver-nosed 50mm as it's one of my least-used lenses and fashionably deplored by many, but I wanted to get back to basics and see what it was capable of at its extremes.
Subject information: While clearing out my garage, I uncovered an old Louis XVI style mirror I'd brought back from France a few years ago. The mirrored surface shows signs of age and I liked the reflection of the brick wall through it, so I grabbed my camera, hunkered down and took a shot. And yes, I'm yet another photographer who prefers to do the shooting rather than be shot at.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Nice natural lighting, which in combination with the wide open aperture causes a soft effect. Neat.
