Forgotten Pier.

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Ralph Nitschke
Title: Forgotten Pier.
Gear used: OM-4Ti + 65-200/4@85 + tripod + cable release.
Diaphragm: f32
Shutter speed: Not Recorded.
Film used: Fuji Reala 100 ASA.
Technical information: Taken at about 6 in the morning, and used the 65-200 as it allowed for a number of framing choices. Scanned on a CanoScan FB320P and saved via PhotoShop.
Subject information: I found this assignment tough, and this is not the image I wanted to submit, but lack of time and creativity left for slim pickings. I tried a number of different compositions of this forgotten pier, and chose this one as I liked the way the posts draw the eye across the picture.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Nice leading lines. Also, the flat colours and still water works really well in this serene composition.

Comment left by: Wayne Harridge (no e-mail specified) Nice monochromatic look with just a hint of colour.

Comment left by: Mickey Trageser (no e-mail specified) Nice composition. Left to right, top to bottom, a natural draw. As I look at it, I lose track of the water and begin to see fenceposts rising from snow, the water is so still. Perhaps a pebble thrown in will bring me back...

Comment left by: bbbean (bbbean@beancotton.com) Very nice - if you didn't like this one, I'd love to see the ones you did like. Seriously, this is one of my favorites of the bunch. Very moody, nice muted colors, excellent composition. What's not to like?
