Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Lovely repetitive pattern.
We'll just have to imagine the water surrounding the boats. Either way, without water, no need for boats, so this picture in a way is a water-shot. :)

Comment left by: Marc Lawrence (mlawrence@cfp.com.au) I must be having a brain-fizz, because I can't figure out just *what* this is a picture of (upsidedown kayak keels?). Not that it matters, as the blue colour and rolling "waves" of fibreglass(?) that even have that darker curl of breaking "wave" are still appealing.

Comment left by: photographer (no e-mail specified) Marc: you're not the only one who can't figure this out - but there will be a *making-of URL after anonimity is lifted :)

Comment left by: bbbean (bbbean@beancotton.com) Add me to the confused landlubber constituency. Nice abstract.

Comment left by: bbbean (no e-mail specified) My wife thinks they're paddle boats.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Perhaps I'm missing something, but to me it seems somewhat clearer what it is we are looking at here. As far as I can tell, they're several boats of the same type.

Using the 300mm lens dramatically flattens the perspective, creating the repetitive "wave" pattern we're seeing here, or am I wrong ?!?

Yes, they *are fibreglass boats (well, Olaf, I *told you, didn't I? ;))
Here is The Making Of, taken with Olympus E100RS by a friend:

Comment left by: Roy Talbot (rtalbot@laborready.com) Dorothée, what a wonderful shot. Looks like rolling waves going off into the distance. The use of the 300/4.5 makes this picture. Funny how perspective changes when you use different a different lens. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
