Evening at White Rock Lake

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Steve Goss
Title: Evening at White Rock Lake
Gear used: OM2-N, Zuiko 135mm f2.8
Diaphragm: F22 or thereabouts
Shutter speed: Auto
Film used: Fuji Superia 400
Technical information: Hand held, -1 exposure compensation
Subject information: It was Friday, at the end of the shooting season. Since I didn't have any better ideas that could be pulled off in time, I decided that there might be something worthy of a TOPE entry at White Rock Lake. There was. After just a few shots, I noticed a pair of kayakers and a sailboat about to cross the reflection of the sun.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Lovely sunset shot!

Comment left by: Jay Maynard (jmaynard@conmicro.cx) Very nice sunset, and the starred sun peeking through the trees is in exactly the right place.

Comment left by: bbbean (bbbean@beancotton.com) Is it just me or is the horizon slighly off kilter?

Great colors and composition.

Comment left by: Roger Wesson (roger@worldtraveller.f9.co.uk) Nice glitter path, and the kayaks are great. Actually I'd suggest cropping a lot more closely to concentrate more on these two aspects. I wonder how it might have looked a few minutes later with the sun in the gap between the tree and the horizon?

Comment left by: The photographer (no e-mail specified) Barry: Yes, the horizon is probably off kilter. My verticals are only approximations, and lining things up on the scanner is iffy as well. I was hoping it was close enough.
Roger: I took some without the tree, and they just weren't as good. Plus, a few minutes later, the kayakers were gone.
