Big Red Rock Waters

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Damon Wood
Title: Big Red Rock Waters
Gear used: OM1-N [MD], Zuiko 28mm f2.8, Manfrotto 190 Art, cable release
Diaphragm: f22
Shutter speed: 1 sec
Film used: Fuji Velvia ISO 50 (rated @ ISO 40)
Technical information: A relatively poor scan, doesnt do it justice (I had to get it in before TOPE 10 closure. I already missed TOPE 9!).
Subject information: Taken in Western Australias South West, pointing towards the enscarpment, Cape Naturaliste. The rocky formations are prominent throughout this region, typical of much of Australias coastal geography where ocean meets land. Truly a special place!

Comment left by: bbbean (bbbean@beancotton.com) I never would have guessed that this was a 1 second exposure - the ripples on the water seem too sharp.

Out of cusiosity, given that you had a wide angle and nothing in the immediate foreground, why not shoot at f5.6, f8, ot f11 and a faster shutter?

Comment left by: Roger Wesson (roger@worldtraveller.f9.co.uk) I'm a big fan of Australian coastal scenery. I really like the colour of the rocks. It's striking without looking over-saturated. My only complaint would be that the image here is rather small - I bet it looks wonderful when projected!
