Technical information:	The worst technical aspect of this picture is the scanner I used to scan the slide - didn't come out all that well compared to the original.
Subject information:	Looking out of the Number 3 Shaft of the Hope Mine (or Elsie K), overlooking Lightning Creek. This was a great producer of lead and silver (mostly lead) in northern Idaho. Nothing close to the "Silver Valley" mines of the Coeur d'Alene district, but pretty good. This shaft was driven in 1927. The shaft runs back about 100 yards to a winze and a few tunnels that are now blocked.

Is that the Osama Bin Laden suite? Seriously, I'm impressed to see this shot at the head of the architecture TOPE. I never would have thought of using a mine shaft for a shot. Good job!

Interesting "keyhole" shot . . . gives a feeling one is emerging from the womb of the earth into the world. Having done something like this before, proper exposure of the outside world while surrounded by dark tunnel is not quite as easy as it looks!
