Calgary city hall

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Andreas Grunwald
Title: Calgary city hall
Gear used: OM-4Ti + Tokina AT 28-85 mm
Diaphragm: f 8
Shutter speed: 1/250
Film used: Fujichrom 100 ASA.
Technical information: I think the slide is more brilliant (contrast/color) than the file.
Subject information: It was a nice trip to Canada with my former girl-friend. Now she is my wife. We had both seen the "mirror" effect of the city hall windows and make some shots with my OM 4 Ti and her OM 10. At the bottom there are some buildings to see. In the second window line you can watch us. I am twice on that picture.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) These reflections are puzzling!
In the second row you guys are featured, but in the row below that you can see a rooftop. How does that work?!?

Comment left by: Dan Mitchell (no e-mail specified) The trick here is that City Hall is stepped, so (I'm guessing) one of the reflections is off a horizontal face and one from a vertical face. (not my shot, but I live here -- I'd not thought of taking things from this angle at all, very nice idea!)

Comment left by: Alasdair.Mackintosh (Alasdair.Mackintosh@ntlworld.com) It's a very interesting effect, but I think the picture might be improved by rotating the picture slightly to get the lines horizontal? One might also crop out the lettering on the building, so that the picture starts at the lower frame of the window.

Comment left by: Jon Mitchell (jon@jonmitch.co.uk) Lovely use of the reflections. Agree with Dan, looks like the second & fourth levels of windows are angled down somewhat - you can almost see it int he angle of the upright sections between the panes of glass.
