Lines and Rectangles

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Jim Caldwell
Title: Lines and Rectangles
Gear used: Olympus E-10, handheld
Diaphragm: f8
Shutter speed: 1/125
Film used: None - camera fixed to ISO 80
Technical information: Just walking around the building and this array of lines and shapes caught my eye. Shot handheld and cropped in the camera. Resized and sharpened slightly in Photoshop.
Subject information: I've been watching this building for some time. It is primarily glass and the light and cloud patterns would make a very interesting photo. I was driving around and noticed this parking garage that is the right rear of the building. Well - these parking garages may be the only thing that would survive our civilization! The lines caught my eye, though I wish I had included a bit more of the fence. It added a nice contrast to the other lines and shapes.

Comment left by: Bob Gries (gries@nothingrhymeswithorange.com) this shot has been on my mind the past week. i can't help but think that it is a better shot than what is on the screen. Maybe if it were B+W and higher contrast, one would focus on the linear quality of the composition. good shot, but it seems that something is missing...
