Just Cans

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Andreas Grunwald
Title: Just Cans
Gear used: OM-4Ti + Tokina AT 28-85 mm
Diaphragm: unknown
Shutter speed: unknown
Film used: Fujichrom 100 ASA.
Technical information: I think again the slide is more brilliant (contrast/color) than the file.
Subject information: We made a trip to a mill which is making out of "animal carcass" nutrients for flowers etc. It was the worst smell in the whole world. Next to the mill I have found a place with thousands of old cans and made a shot.

Comment left by: C.H.Ling (chling@accura.com.hk) Well! I like the tone and reflections of this image, if the upper left corner is filled with cans that would be perfect.

Comment left by: Alasdair Mackintosh (Alasdair.Mackintosh@ntlworld.com) Good range of textures and patterns, and the longer you look at it, the more interesting little details you can see.
I've had a number of TOPE entries myself where the original slide looked a lot better (in terms of dynamic range and general "punchiness") than the final scanned and web-viewed image, so I can sympathise with the general feeling that it looked a lot better on the lightbox.

Comment left by: Chris Barker (imagopus@threeshoes.co.uk) Good idea (and brave of you to withstand the smell); I should like to see it a bit cropped to avoid some of the distracting shiny things in the top left.

Comment left by: :Doro (no e-mail specified) I do like the tonal range and overall composition but would agree with the others about the top left corner..Good shot!
