Submitter's name: Walt Wayman
Title: Contents of an Old Codger's Camera Cupboard
Gear used: OM-4Ti + MD2 + 100/2 Zuiko + Manfrotto 3221 tripod + Manfrotto 405 head + T45 flash + 5M TTL cord + 25 ft. Kalt MD extension cord + old Spiratone 32-in. silver umbrella.
Diaphragm: f/11
Shutter speed: 1/60
Film used: Fuji NPH 400
Technical information: The gear was piled atop a 3x4 ft. piece of foam board on the kitchen table, with another board propped up behind. The T45 and umbrella were hand-held about 3 ft. above and to the left and the camera fired from the T45 with the extension cords listed above, using auto TTL exposure. This has proved to be a difficult picture from which to get a good scan, I suppose because of the contrast. I have viewed it on three different computers, and it looks too dark on one, too light on one, and just right on another.
Subject information: What shows age better than one's toys -- both of the toys and their owner? This is my medium format gear. The cameras are 6x9 cm Graphic Centuries, Crowns, and Graflex XLRF's. The lenses are Schneider, Rodenstock or Zeiss, with one exception, a Calumet Caltar. Only one lens, a 100/5.6 Schneider APO Symmar, is less than 20 years old. The oldest thing in the picture is the exposure meter immediately in front of the wizard, a 1937 Weston Master, no Roman numerals, and no batteries either. It still works perfectly and is dead-on accurate. Although I normally use a 60 years newer Seconic L-718, I wouldn't hesitate to use the Weston if the Seconic died. The TLR is a Yashica 44, my first REAL camera.

From your description it seems like you needed a stack almost as big as the one pictured to take this picture. :)

Comment left by: Anonymous Visitor Wow. Firstly I'm jealous of the gear. Having got that out of the way, I like the arrangement, depth and sharpness of the pic. It makes the gear even more impressive. Dunno about showing age tho, cause that gear is ageless, isn't it? Just nitpicking.

Now for the tricky bit - getting them all to fire at the same time for a composite self portrait. That would be something!

Comment left by: Chris Barker (imagopus@threeshoes.co.uk) Looks just fine to me. Nicely done.
