Good things last for a long time

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Dorothée Rapp
Title: Good things last for a long time
Gear used: Olympus C2000Z at 37mm, P mode
Diaphragm: f11
Shutter speed: 1/30
Technical information: Flash (rather crudely used I'm afraid).
Subject information: This apple I got at the photokina (Sept. 26th) and kept it to see how long it would last. I never found the time to photograph it properly - i.e. with film and OM, so now it's just a snapshot - but then I wanted to share this special apple with the Olympus community and decided to submit it nonetheless!

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Well, you may call it "just a snap shot", but to me it looks like a carefully composed still life. And then, it's quite a nice one at that, with lovely bright colours and good detail on the keys. So, what's there not to like?

Comment left by: Chris Barker (imagopus@threeshoes.co.uk) Nice composition and good variety of colour Doro. The thumbnail is very intriguing...

Comment left by: benson (benson@gsb.haifa.ac.il) Love it! Just one question...on the apple, something appears to be carved...it looks like "Olympus"....
Is this a reference to a Greek god, or something? What might be the connection to this Greek god and the piano?!!

Comment left by: Doro (no e-mail specified) I'm glad you like it :) I would have preferred to have set the flashlight without any bad reflections. As it is now, you don't really see the OLYMPUS logo properly...
Benson: The connection is age - but then the piano is a lot older than the apple :)

Comment left by: Les Clark (ll.clark@verizon.net) ...but not a word about the wonderful old Bluethner?
What a story it would tell!

Comment left by: Roy S. Talbot (roytalbot@hotmail.com) Ok you really out did yourself here. Wonderful composition and nice colors. Both the piano and the apple show age. I agree with you that it's too bad that the light washed out the Olympus name. However the apple might have two many wrinkles to make a difference.
