Enel

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Carlos Santisteban
Title: Enel
Gear used: OM-1 + F.Zuiko 85mm F2
Diaphragm: f/2
Shutter speed: 1/125, IIRC
Film used: Fujicolor Superia 200
Subject information: My father (born in 1927) playing his 'Charles Enel' violin (built in 1911)
Technical information: Nothing special for this handheld shot with available light from a window.
The OM-1 is from March '73, and the Zuiko 85mm is a silvernose one, so the gear is also showing age!

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) I like the red-tones in this shot, as well as the composition.

A minor nitpick is that it's a little bit a pity that the left hand side of the shot misses just that last tiny bit of the violin. Otherwise a great shot!

Comment left by: C.H.Ling (chling@accura.com.hk) Nice color and harmony tone but it doesn't show age except some marks on the violin :-)

Comment left by: Brian Swale (bj@caverock.net.nz) That new 85/2 certainly shows what it can do with this shot. In the hands of an expert of course ;-)

Arresting colour and composition; and the special figure in the maple or sycamore? wood of the violin shows very well indeed.

Comment left by: benson (benson@gsb.haifa.ac.il) reminds me of the Mystro label photo paper. Professional looking shot.

Comment left by: Jan Steinman (Jan@Bytesmiths.com) Lovely use of negative space -- it's almost a duotone. This is proof that in composition, simplicy rules!
