Lars & Simon, bipartite.

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Iwert Bernakiewicz
Title: Lars & Simon, bipartite.
Gear used: OM-4Ti + 50mm f1.2
Diaphragm: f1.2
Shutter speed: 1/125
Film used: Kodak TMAX 3200 @ 3200 ASA
Technical information: The twins are in a relative dark corner of the living room. Very cosy. I don't like flash so used 3200 ASA, and I like the visible grain very much. It gives roughness but also warmth. The very shallow depth of field at f1.2 gives an almost three-dimensional feeling. Free hand, no tripod.
Subject information: Finally a way to present our two newcomers! They are growing fast and a pleasure to see growing. I am offending the rules a bit by sending in two pictures mounted together and by now you'll know who took the pictures. Time is getting very rare in our family now and I did not want to disturb their sleep and quietness by moving them together for a picture session, we'll have this in the future. Well, there is a saying here in belgium that the exception marks the rule:). My wife and I wish to see our twins as two individuals rather than 'twins'.

Comment left by: Jodi Jakeway (jjakeway@chartermi.net) Great shots, the tonality and range are nice...the shallow depth of field lends a softness that is demanded of babies. Congrats !

Comment left by: John Lind (no e-mail specified) I agree with Olafo -- the B&W renders a timeless photograph. The softness of the ambient lighting in combination with the wide open aperture gives them an excellent tonal range, smoother appearance and models their features better than on-camera lighting could ever do, even with a medium to large softbox on it.
