Rough diamonds.

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Dan Mitchell
Title: Rough diamonds.
Gear used: OM2S + Vivitar 55/2.8 macro + T32 off-camera
Diaphragm: f16
Shutter speed: 1/60
Film used: Kodak Gold 100
Technical information: Not much to note; flash held off to one side to try and get enough light to let me get a decent DOF without the lens shading everything too much.
Subject information: The focus/zoom ring from a 65-200/4 lens. It looks almost completely clean to the naked eye, so I'm not sure what the dust-looking flecks are. Reflections, maybe?

Comment left by: Wayne Harridge (no e-mail specified) A very familiar object well seen.

Comment left by: Steve Goss (no e-mail specified) Nice depth of field on a curved object.
Unless you looked at it through a microscope while you cleaned it, that probably is dust. I thought I had my macro tope entry clean, too.

Comment left by: Walt (no e-mail specified) Why does this make me think of an M.C. Escher drawing? Very well done!

Comment left by: Jakob Gunge (jakob@gunge.dk) Awesome idea! At first glance it looked like a steel surface. I had to look at the picture twice again after reading the description.

Comment left by: Wayne Shumaker (om4t@zuik.net) The gradiation in texture from forground to background makes this shot work.
