Snakes' Nightmare

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Juan Pachon
Title: Snakes' Nightmare
Gear Used: OM2 + 35/2.8
Film: Agfa APX 100
Technical information: Hand Held
Subject Information: I was composing a picture of the eroded roots of the tree when all of a sudden a child appeared and I instinctively followed his movement and took the shot. The picture shows motion blur, but in a certain way that produces a surreal effect.

Comment left by: Wayne Harridge (no e-mail specified) Fantastic knarled roots.

Comment left by: Andy Radcliffe (no e-mail specified) I keep being drawn back to this picture for reasons that I don't fully understand.Although I suppose it could have been taken almost anywhere mountainous, it has a very East European feel. You expect to hear sheep or goat bells at any moment. In spite of the "technical" shortcomings, as a picture I love it.

Comment left by: Brian Swale (bj@caverock.net.nz) Great shot; fantastic timing.
I almost expected Salvador Dali to show up, or a Satyr with pan pipes to join in the frolic.

Comment left by: Steve Goss (no e-mail specified) Or are the roots blurred because they are reaching out to ensnare the boy?

Comment left by: Andy Radcliffe (AndyJRadcliffe@manx.net) Well, I guess I was wrong about Eastern Europe then ,now I know that this is your work, Juan Carlos!Just as good as your other pictures - great stuff.

Comment left by: Wayne Shumaker (om4t@zuik.net) If the boy were not sharp, this shot should be in the trash. Given that is not the case this shot has a lot of emotional tension. What lurks in our deeper mind that says, push the button? Someone once told me that synchronicity is causality on a deeper level.
