I'm curious about the scale of this monument. Are those normal sized paving bricks, or are they much larger or smaller? Also, what deportation? Or, which deportation?

Steve, I'm quite positive that the deportation this monument is about will have been the deportation of Jews in world war 2. Having said that, this is one monument I missed on the various trips I made to Paris.

Olaf is correct, it is the WWII deportation. The paving is normal sized, the wall is about a metre high, I think. The textures and simplicity of the monument tell their stories to the imaginative...

Excellent timing to get the sun angle just right so it picks out the rough-hewn texture in the stone.
