The overcast day reveals the texture within the grain patterns. Very nice!

Definitely a gnarled old tree. Way too random to be computer generated.

I used to do a lot of old gnarled wood pictures in B&W. I love 'em and you did a great job on this one!

I like this sort of subject. I'm curious though if some of the tonality is lost in too much contrast? I'm distracted by the highlights. I'm thinking of some beautifully printed platinum pladium prints I've scene. If the day was overcast, the film must contain more information? I would like to see it. The beauty in this subject is all in the printing.
