Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Very nice!

Lovely colours and a great composition. it did 'take the wind out of my sails' for doing a Dutch windmill shot though. ;)

Comment left by: Daniel (danrich@hawaii.rr.com) Nicly done, great warm colors.
What is the strong white light in the windmill?

Comment left by: Duncan Paterson (no e-mail specified) I like the contrast of the sails against the beautiful soft sky colours. Nicely composed too.

Comment left by: siddiq (no e-mail specified) is that bright white area whitewashed? in any case, lovely warm tones of the field contrast blend nicely into purple horizon and cooler hues in the sky. also like the way the 'path' started at the corner and leads up. superbly rich colors, a wall hanger i'd reckon.

Comment left by: the photographer (no e-mail specified) thanks for the comments. The light areas are white painted doors + cladding. The original scanned .tif file retains detail here but this has been lost in heavy compression (40mb down to 100K).

3 days after I took this the windmill was covered in scaffolding for its first renovation for many years - lucky timing indeed.

Comment left by: Marc Lawrence (mlawrence@cfp.com.au) Lovely evening(?) feel about this photo, and I like the mown area that draws your eye up to the subject. The "framing" leaves overhead work nicely too.

Comment left by: Chris (ftog at threeshoes.co.uk) Lovely contrast in colours.

Comment left by: Brian Swale ( ... ) A very effective shot indeed of a notable landmark.

Quite a contrasty image; I'd be interested to see how it would look with less contrast.

Also, whereas many shots in this theme exhibition show evidence of over-sharpening (mine does too !!), this one does not.
In fact there is an aspect that has me puzzled - the darkness of the leaves at the top seems to have "bled" out into the space of the sky. I wonder why? Or am I seeing something others do not?

Comment left by: siiddiq (no e-mail specified) brian, sure it's not just out of focus fuzzy leafs? that's waht it looks like to me

Comment left by: Ian Skelly (I@nSkelly.com) Yep, they are out of focus leaves. Some of the bleeding is also down to a little gausian blur I used to reduce grain in the sky.
