Limekiln Light

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Mike Lazzari
Title: Limekiln Light
Gear used: OM-4Ti + 24mm/2.8 on monopod
Diaphragm: 2.8
Shutter speed: (slow)
Film used: Fuji Superia 400
Technical information: Set up and wait for light to flash. When tweaking the exposure in PS to get the sky close to the actual scene the lighthouse became a silhouette so I brought back a little detail just in that area.
Subject information: This lighthouse is a couple of miles from our house and we frequently take the dog on walks here. It is also an ideal whale viewing spot. All seagoing traffic headed to Vancouver and north through the Inside Passage passes by here. Before they replaced the diaphon it was rather pleasant to lie in bed and listen on foggy nights. The sound of the new horn is not nearly as pleasing nor does it carry as far. In the background is Vancouver Island and Gulf Islands.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Great sky!
The lighthouse in there makes the composition much more interesting, without it, it would have 'just' been a great sky.

Comment left by: Duncan Paterson (no e-mail specified) Very nice composition: the tiny lighthouse under a formidable sky shows how exposed to the elements it is.

Comment left by: Anonymous Visitor Very good composition - it would be interesting to see if the picture changes in different light if it is hung up. Nice balance of sun and lighthouse.
