Blue Stone of the dead

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Marc Simon
Title: Blue Stone of the dead
Gear used: Olympus IS3000 at 180mm + B300 converter
Shutter speed: ? somewhere around 1/125
Film used: Fuji Sensia 400
Technical information: (exposure in auto full aperture )
Subject information: It was the end of the day...light was falling...the shadows turns to blue and the grey stone took the same dark blue color. I had this picture in mind from some moment: compress the space between the War Memorial and the Cathedral.
Unfortunately the rendition of the scan doesn't do justice to the slide...

Comment left by: Marc Lawrence (mlawrence@cfp.com.au) (Just curious - is the darkening up in the top righthand corner an artifact of scanning?) If the scan doesn't do the slide justice, I'd love to see the slide. This shot appeals the most to me of all the submissions (credit to you, not debit to them intended). There is something urban-fantasy about this - like a 'decisive moment' from Neil Gaiman's 'Neverwhere' or Mary Gentle's 'Rats and Gargoyles'. Magic!

Comment left by: Chris (ftog at threeshoes.co.uk) Well visualised and intriguing composition.

Comment left by: Andreas Grunwald (no e-mail specified) nice idea and good shot
