Technical information: One of a series of test shots. I just purchased the lens, I'd been using it for about an hour to get a feel of the format, and then a few nice shots came out.
Subject information: Hakodate is a city on Japan's northernmost island of Hokkaido. It was built on a peninsula that features a mountain of 335 meters high. The mountain itself is hardly developed, except for a center at the top that serves both as broadcasting point for TV and radio, as well as viewing point for tourists. The view is considered to be one of the best 3 in the world, Hong Kong's Peak being another one, and I can agree that these two are both stunning. This view is from the beach between Hakodate and Yunokawa. The cables running down the mountain and reflecting the sunlight are for the cable car going up the mountain. There's a webcam from the mountain at http://www.stv.ne.jp/webcam/hakodate/index.html
