Title: moven by emotion
Gear used: OM-3Ti + 21f2 + chapel wall.
Diaphragm: f2
Shutter speed: 1/15
Film used: Fuji Velvia 100 ASA.
Technical information: This is a fairly small and dark chapel. The only light available comes from the candles and the window behind the statue of Mary. Handheld with extra support of a wall, this image is a good example of why I like available light, the use of a flash would have spoiled the atmosphere and would have disturbed the people. The use of the 21mm pulls the viewer into the scene.
Subject information: This image is about emotion, prayers and deep thoughts. I was moven by the serenity and atmosphere in the chapel. So here is the rather abstract explanation for the theme movement and motion. This is a static picture of people standing still, but their thoughts are moving rapidly and with concentration. The picture invites to stand still next to these people and contemplate about their thoughts, pleas, sorrows and wishes. With this picture I wanted to move into the world of thoughts and the immaterial.

Comment left by: Jim Caldwell (jamesfc@gte.net) Very classical in approach! Clever interpretation of movement - it is an emotionally 'moving' picture!

Comment left by: Alasdair Mackintosh (tope@toomanybooks.org) Perfect exposure, and a lot harder to capture than it looks. I especially like the way that the standing woman is illuminated.
