Submitter's name: Tim Hughes
Title: Go Stanford!
Gear used: OM2 + Novoflex follow focus 400mm F4 PistolGrip&Cable release+ShoulderStock
Diaphragm: F4.0-5.6
Shutter speed: 1/1000
Film used: 200 ASA print. Scanned/Cropped ~50% from super market print
Technical information: Shot "Hand held" from about 1/3 way up the Stanford stadium. All the "pros" shot from ground level, on the field, using mono-pods.
Subject information: I don't know much about American Football, but got a gift of two tickets to the Stanford vs Cal game. This is the big annual game of two arch rival, local University teams.
I have taken a lot of pictures of my son's soccer team in the last few years, so this was an opportunity to try my skills on a bigger game. Although I generally like the OM2S, it is not a good sports camera because of the long shutter lag, so I chose an old OM2. I did not take an MD and really did not miss it much.
I was pleased with my keeper ratio and the number of shots which managed to include the ball! The Stanford Band is unique and looks as if it came out of a Monty Python sketch, so it also gave an opportunity for some other interesting photography.

Comment left by: Jim Caldwell (jamesfc@gte.net) Sports are always great for action shots with lots of movement! Too bad the runner's foot is behind the marker (yard marker?). Great capture!
