C'mon Baby, Let's Twist Again

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Gary Teller
Title: C'mon Baby, Let's Twist Again
Gear used: OM-2, Tokina AT-X 28-85/3.5-4.5
Aperture: Not recorded-set to aperture priority
Shutter speed: Not recorded
Film used: Kodak Gold 100
Technical information: Cropped in camera. There was a large, ugly object extremely close on the left. To have stood at an angle from the left would have produced an image with a background I didn't care for. Print scanned to PC with Microtek ScanMaker 4800. Slight contrast and backlight adjustments made in Photoshop Elements.
Subject information: While exploring and photographing some machinery in a small town not far from where I live I remembered this particular "store" that sells all manner of objects salvaged from their previous life. I'd passed by the place numerous times over the years but had never stopped for closer inspection. Having a lifelong love of amusement parks and fairs it seemed only natural that The Twister appealed to me. Cotton candy and corn dogs, anyone?

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) I always think it's a bit sad to see 'items of fun' discarded like this. At one time this must have been a fun ride, now it's left to whither away...
I love the background as well, as there's several more such items over there.

Comment left by: Garry Lewis (garrylewis747@earthlink.net) Yes the lens compaction works here to tie the background
the the main subject. The only thing that bothers me is that dang bright grass in the foreground. Try cropping the bottom (to the subject) to see what I mean.
