Submitter's name: Richard Lovison
Title: Untitled
Gear used: OM-4Ti + Series 1 90-180/4.5 Flat Field Zoom + tripod .
Diaphragm: f8
Shutter speed: 1/60
Film used: Fuji NPS 160
Technical information: The photo was taken using the self-timer to get aperture pre-fire. It was originally taken in color but I thought black and white worked better so I changed it to a grayscale image in the digital processing. While taking the photo, I tried to frame the image to include the entire machine but the composition seemed way too busy. Plus there was quite a bit of brush and small trees growing between the many parts. So I chose to focus on just one main set of gears.
Subject information: This piece of machinery was located outside an abandoned paper mill near a concrete wall that was about 15 feet up from the bank of the Housatonic River. I'm not sure what it was used for... possibly to open some doors below near the river.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Nice composition. I had a similar idea in mind, but my pictures didn't work out so nicely, so I didn't use such a shot. Nice use of DOF as well.

Comment left by: Garry Lewis (garrylewis747@earthlink.net) Who ever took this must be a real gearhead. Seriously, I would have pulled back a bit so the big gear isn't going out of frame.Otherwise I like the tonality and sharpness and composition.

Comment left by: Gary Edwards (no e-mail specified) I tried one of these, too. A similar set of gears on some old mining machinery in Silver City, New mexico. Yours is much better.

Comment left by: Don Shedrick (no e-mail specified) I like the contrasty light and the texture. Well done.
