Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Ron Spolarich
Title: The Eveready Diner
Gear used: OM-4Ti + 50mm/F1.2 + Slik 700DX tripod
Diaphragm: F8
Shutter speed: Auto
Film used: Ektachrome 100VS
Technical information: Spot metered on the brightest areas of the image and shot with the self-timer.
Subject information: The Eveready Diner in Hyde Park, NY. Positively electric colors from this 50's eatery captured during our Memorial Day antique business trip. The interior design is an immediate flash back to the 50's! For those who have never sampled diner fare they are not to be ignored. Food prepared like your mother did on Sunday at noon!

It looks like one of those places you always saw in the cartoon "The Jetsons" :)

Comment left by: Barry Bean (bbbean@beancotton.com) Great colors - love that blue sky and the neon. 100VS is one of my favorite films for this type of work. Nic composition, and good use of spot metering.

Comment left by: Paul Wallich (no e-mail specified) This shot is making me hungry. It's the kind of picture that makes me wish it were easier to clear people and cars and other detritus out of our foregrounds, though.

Comment left by: Chuck Norcutt (norcutt@attglobal.net) Hmmm. I'm wondering when this was built since I can't recall seeing it before. I used to drive through Hyde Park every so often when I lived in Woodstock , NY from 1975-1985. Maybe it never caught my attention since I never saw it at night and so attractively displayed. Nice job.

Comment left by: Matt BenDaniel (matt@exceloncorp.com) I like it. It has a classic look, like Edward Hopper's Nighhawks. See http://metalab.unc.edu/wm/paint/auth/hopper/

Comment left by: Wiliam Wagenaar (wiliam2@wish.net) Nice picture in wich there is a good balance in the intensities of neon-light, interior lighting and remaining daylight. Well done.
