Location:	The Prom, Gloucester Road, Bristol (England).
Photographer's Comments:	Well, it *was* taken at night, using available light. I'd have preferred a little less background clutter, but the strongly defined form of the bass still dominates the picture. This was taken in the interval between the band's first & second sets, with just the instruments on stage. I think it creates a sense of expectancy - when *are* they coming back for the second set?

Nice - I love a stand up bass. I wish teh top half of the bass was lit and there was a shade more contrast - it'd make the bass stand out just a little more from the background.

Thanks, Barry. Sadly, the lighting in this place has gone downhill since I first started shooting there. They seem to have solved the problem of performers complaining about lights shining straight in their eyes by pointing them at their feet.... I've been experimenting with off-camera flash to illuminate faces recently.

Despite the dark part on the top of the bass I love this moody b&W picture. The backgroud adds to the setting.

I think thats a great pic,i play the upright as well as guitar and trumpet,and i always appreciate a good shot of an instrument.I dont think the background is cluttered,i think the other instruments show how jazz bands play,if you get what im sayin =) anyways,great pic!
