Made of Brimstone?

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Chip Stratton
Title: Made of Brimstone?
Gear used: OM-4 + Zuiko 50mm f/2 Macro + Bogen 3292 car window mount with 3009 mini ball head.
Diaphragm: f/2.8
Shutter speed: about 2 seconds
Film used: Fuji Provia F
Technical information: Straight OTF exposure. Scanned on HP Photosmart S20.
Subject information: A church in Charleston, South Carolina. Can't quite remember which one though. It is a clear night, and you can see a few stars, though not so easily on the reduced 640x480 pixel jpg compressed image. That is a palmetto (state tree of South Carolina) on the left. The window mount made it easy to zip around the city that night, shooting whatever might look good!

Comment left by: Wilaim Wagenaar (wiliam2@wish.net) Been there, seen it, done it, BUT..

Not at nighttime. I like your picture way better than mine I took of this churh 17 years ago when I visited this town as an apprentice engineer. Awakes memories however.

Comment left by: Barry Bean (bbbean@beancotton.com) Very nice. This one would go on my wall. I'm surprised you were able to get things as sharp as they are with a window-pod.

Comment left by: Ron Spolarich (caesar2@mediaone.net) Excellent composition and dramatic lighting. I feel my eyes being swept up the face. A daylight shot wouldn't provide the impact that this does.

Comment left by: Alasdair Mackintosh (Alasdair.Mackintosh@eu.citrix.com) Excellent shot. The lighting really brings out the arcitectural details, and gives a strong 3-D effect. The palm tree adds balance to the shot, and makes it even more effective.

Comment left by: Siddiq (siddim01@student.ucr.edu) Oooh, very dramatic--dare I say macabre--lighting from the bottom! And the color: like it's reflecting surrounding flames while being untouched.

Comment left by: Norm (normphoto@writeme.com) Excellent contrast between the green of the tree and orange of the lighting on the church.
