Submitter's name: Fernando Gonzalez Gentile
Title: View of the Palacio Salvo through the Puerta de la Ciudadela.
Gear used: OM-2n + Zuiko 21/3.5 + tripod +self-timer.
Diaphagm: f11 hyperfocal.
Shutter speed: About 6 sec.
OM-2n on Auto Mode, no exposure compensation.
Film used: Fuji Velvia 50 ASA.
Technical info: Nothing too special. Composed and focused using a 1-10 screen. Decided to go hyperfocal because the Door was at a couple of meters from the camera, and the Palacio Salvo was about 400 meters away. Film scanned using a Nikon CoolScan 4000ED by Roberto Schettini.
Subject info: These are two icons of the city I live in, both around its main Square, the Plaza Independencia. The Door is the restored entrance to the city, when it was founded and fortified, during and after 1726. The Palacio Salvo, on the opposite side of the square, is a big building featuring a sort of Art Nouveau architecture, quite prominent on the city landscape and showing its recent lighting decoration.
Due to a couple of strong light sources on the opposite side of the Door, this was the only place where, on the right-left axis, the picture could be exposed. Besides, the border of the narrow sidewalk was just behind me and the tripod leg, so it was impossible to go a single step bakwards. On the front-back axis, I couldn't get a wider view. Could only take special care about the upper border of the Door to remain horizontal.

Comment left by: Ricardo Calovi (ricardo.calovi@yahoo.com.br) In fact an interesting composition, as the author said, he captured two of the most enigmatic buildings of Montevideo in one single shot. The colors and details provide by these magnificent diapositive film, the legendary Velvia 50, are really great. As the others also said, a good use of 21mm wide angle.
