Home grown peppers

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Andy Radcliffe
Title: Home grown peppers
Gear used: Olympus E-1, 50mm/3.5 macro, T-32 flash.
Diaphragm: f 11
Shutter speed: 180th/sec.
Film used: Digital @ISO 100
Technical information: I lit the peppers from behind by placing them on my lightbox, and played around with the ISO setting on the T-32 to get the result I was after. I fitted a home-made diffuser to the T-32, which I think ended up set to ISO 400. The E-1 was tripod mounted.
Subject information: These were the last two peppers from four plants that I grew from seed as an experiment and raised indoors. I thought that I should record them for posterity before they were eaten.....

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) I guess this is what people call a "hot-shot"? ;)

Comment left by: Piers Hemy (no e-mail specified) Nice idea, well executed.

Comment left by: Brian Swale (no e-mail specified) For my taste (no pun intended), I wonder what would be the effect on the final image if the background were to be a colour, rather than pure white? Choice of colour could be difficult. I find the high contrast between the background and the two subjects tends to make for difficult viewing.
It is interesting that the strong white has not bled into the colour; that I could see.
