I'm not much of a sucker for heavy digital trickery, but in this case the exteme colour shift does work out nicely.

You really didn't use Photoshop too much, did you? We all know those rich saturated colors of Velvia. I'm just kidding and I like both Velvia and Photoshop. I love these beautiful bright colors. Before reading your explanation, I thought it might be a butterfly wing. You have shown us that things don't have to look "real" to be beautiful.

Nice idea, and it works well - but the top right corner seems to be irrelevant and distracting.
