Madrugada

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Mike Lazzari
Title: Madrugada
Gear used: OM-4T + 300/2.8 (I think) + tripod w/ panorama plate + thermos of hot tea
Diaphragm: f2.8
Shutter speed: forgot
Film used: Reala
Technical information: Set up tripod and level panorama plate and wait. The panorama is a stitch of 5 photos. Here is one of them to give an idea of the detail. First the photos were scanned on the FS4000 then reduced using the Fred Miranda Plugin WP Pro, low sharpening. Finally converted to jpg which is necessary before being stitched together using AutoStitch which unfortunately only does jpg's at this point. The final pan was reduced to fit the TOPE guidelines.
Subject information: Runamuck mutt and I got up well before the crack o' dawn and headed out to one of our favorite spots. Packed the gear up the hill to the previously determined site and set up. The view is familiar to anyone living in the Puget Sound region albeit not usually spread out in one sweeping vista. This shot but one small part of the view we enjoyed that morning as the sun came up. Mercifully during the TOPE shooting period the sunrise was still at a respectfully late hour.

I like panorama shots and this one certainly worked out nicely!

Comment left by: Fernando Gonzalez Gentile (no e-mail specified) What a coincidence... this past summer I had the idea or making a 360 degrees panorama shot from the top of Cerro Catedral, the highest point in my country, using my 200/4. Found it too difficult in the end, since it's a rather long way to the top...
Your picture does make me reconsider this task (mine doesn't need to be at the crack of dawn) but I don't trust my Panorama head.

Great work, I like it a lot - it's quite a landscape, with that very calm sea !!
Worth the chilling, ailed with hot tea. :^)

Fernando.

Comment left by: Andrew Wendelborn ( ) Excellent! Patience and effort well rewarded.

Comment left by: Richard Lovison (no e-mail specified) The colors in this image remind me of the colors in a Brenda Tharp image that is on the front cover of her book, "Creative Nature & Outdoor Photography" and is a personal favorite of mine. This is a very beautiful and peaceful image and you captured it well.

Comment left by: Brian Swale (no e-mail specified) You and Runamuck Mutt did well !!
I take it from the gradation of light that the view is to the South?
A very satisfying panorama, and I like the solo shot as well.
