Morning Monument

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Jeff Keller
Title: Morning Monument
Gear used: OM-3 + 50mm f2 + tripod
Diaphragm: f8 (about)
Shutter speed: unknown
Film used: Fuji Velvia 100F (maybe Provia 100)
Technical information: My two OMs had begun misbehaving with the cold weather. I frequently checked the meter reading against another camera.
Subject information: There had been very strong winds late in the afternoon the day before. A light snow storm passed through at night. Although the morning started out cold, the scenery completely drove all thoughts of discomfort out of my mind. By about noon the clouds were sparse but for several hours the landscape and sky had put on an incredible performance.

Comment left by: Andrew Wendelborn ( ) Looks to be a wonderful place. An evocative picture.

Comment left by: Moose (olymoose@moosemystic.net) I really like the different vision of such a familiar image. With the great "monument" in deep shadow, the elements of sky and ordinary earth take a more dominant place, but still in relationship to the colossal landscape. It would be so easy to just wait for the shadow to pass and just get another lovely postcard.

Comment left by: Mike Gordon (usher99@aol.com) Love the color, composition, shadow, and cloud highlights. Evokes the evanescent nature of light, shadow, etc.
