Moonrise at Sunset, Good Friday, 2005.

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Andrew Wendelborn
Title: Moonrise at Sunset, Good Friday, 2005.
Gear used: OM-1n + 300/4.5
Diaphragm: unknown
Shutter speed: unknown
Film used: Fuji Velvia 50
Technical information: Cropped to emphasize the moon.
Subject information: I'm intrigued by sunsets that cause this wonderful glow in the eastern sky, and to have this simultaneously with moonrise is rather special. There was a "preview" the night before, so I found a good vantage point in anticipation. The eastern sky had been clouded in all afternoon, but lifted enough just before sunset to make an appealing pattern over the moon. I like the effect -- I hope others do as well!

Very cool to see a moonrise as well!

Comment left by: Chris Barker (ftog@threeshoes.co.uk) Lovely! But I think that the glow is also called "pollution" ;-).

Comment left by: anonymous (no e-mail specified) Thanks! Not pollution, though. This is a secluded, almost deserted coastal Australian location over two hours from the nearest city, and with a near-constant "stiff ocean breeze." We were bush-camping. I've often noticed this glow there, and speculated on the atmospheric conditions that cause it.

Comment left by: Fernando Gonzalez Gentile (no e-mail specified) I shot the moon on the very same day and moment, using my 200 + 2-XA, wide open, with bean bag and all. Not nearly as good as yours, the camera overexposed on Auto.... no details on the moon surface, but more on the land below. Next year I'll make another try, underexposing.
Congratulations, gerat shot.

Comment left by: Piers Hemy (no e-mail specified) Excellent control of exposure, with interest on the skyline as well as in the sky.
