Riding the Sky

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Parzival Herzog
Title: Riding the Sky
Gear used: Kayak, OM-4Ti + Vivitar 24/2, PC, Canoscan FS4000US, Paintshop Pro 7.0, Gimp V2
Diaphragm: Probably f/4 or f/5.6
Shutter speed: Automatic, spot metered on the boat deck.
Film used: Fujicolor Superia 400 ASA,
Technical information: Some care was needed to keep the boat rotated at the desired heading, and not to cause ripples while composing the picture.
Levels adjusted in Paintshop Pro. Resized and sharpened with the Gimp V2.
Subject information: The view from my homebuilt wooden kayak, cruising Hawk Lake at sunset, in the Canadian shield country of northwestern Ontario. The spacious and dynamic sky reflected in the black depths of the lake, surrounded by silent rock and forest. Heaven!

Comment left by: Duncan Paterson (no e-mail specified) I like this shot very much. It really involves the viewer by placing him/her right in the photographers shoes (or boat) so to speak. Very peaceful scene too.
