Outward Bound

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Bob Whitmire
Title: Outward Bound
Gear used: Olympus E-1, 50-200 zoom
Diaphragm: f8
Shutter speed: 1/25
Film used: Digital
Technical information: Wanted enough detail in the moon that it didn't look like a washed-out blur, not to mention the right early light on the hillside, and a touch of motion apparent as the lobster boat makes its way out of the harbor.
Subject information: A small harbor on the Midcoast of Maine, open year-round because there's no fresh water entering at any point. Lobstering in the summer, shrimping in winter. One of my favorite spots.

Comment left by: Jeff Keller (no e-mail specified) Beautiful picture. Timing looks perfect. You must have set up and waited for everything to come into place.

Comment left by: Chris Barker (no e-mail specified) That looks luminous Bob, quite lovely.

Comment left by: Gary Teller (no e-mail specified) Ooooohhhhh! I wish I were there, especially this hot summer. Well captured.

Comment left by: Olli (no e-mail specified) Oh, this looks like a painting! I could hang this on my wall!! Without the moon this would be just another dusk shot but this photo has it "something".

Comment left by: Fernando (no e-mail specified) Very nice picture, lighting and timing... and a perfect moon. Is it a 50-200 OM-Zuiko ? Amazing definition...

Comment left by: rocket man (thekimmels@att.net) clearly offers nostalgia and nuance
Best Artistic Rendering, Beyond Any Rendition I've Attempted, No?
