Horse Power (the rich and the poor)

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Fernando Gonzalez Gentile
Title: Horse Power (the rich and the poor)
Film used: Fuji Velvia 50
Exposure: Unknown, sounded like 1/15.
Aperture: f4
Gear used: Hand-held Olympus OM-2 on Auto mode with Winder 2 attached. Single unit of T-32 flash mounted on a shoe 3 for TTL OTF which made a full dump, camera remained open as I had expected. Zuiko 28mm f2.8 with cheap UV filter screwed on, no hood.
Subject information: Little time to select and mount gear, and little time to compose the photograph too. Could make three shots, and this one is which I like better regarding composition only. The scene happened in front of my house, the Mercedes had been parked there for some hours since the afternoon into the cold night, when the horse pulled cart appeared and stopped almost side by side for a few minutes. His owner didn't care about me. This was a reality show.

Comment left by: Olaf Greve (no e-mail specified) Very well spotted contrast in both types of horse power. :)
It also looks a bit like both 'vehicles' are lined up for a race, awaiting the signal to start.

Comment left by: Piers Hemy (no e-mail specified) Could maybe be a good example of how the OM2 could be an improvement (?) over the later 2n for combination flash+ambient exposures at night? At any rate, I like the comination lighting.

Comment left by: me (no e-mail specified) what if I had done a scan for the shadows and one for the highlights, and 16 sampled each one :^) - you'd see part of my house at the right side. Doesn't matter in this picture, anyway.

Comment left by: Chris Barker (no e-mail specified) Good idea. Came out well considering it was handheld.

Comment left by: Wayne Harridge (no e-mail specified) Good balance of flash & ambient light - well done.

Comment left by: Carlos Santisteban (no e-mail specified) I know WHO you are... ;-) Funny picture and well recorded, BTW!

Comment left by: me (no e-mail specified) you say you know who am I... amazing - I don't.
And the harder I try, the more difficult it seems to achieve.

But one thing I know for sure: I'm happy because you liked my photograph.

Comment left by: Alejandro (no e-mail specified) Nice shot. If only, photoghraps have the virtue to catch "a slippery moment in time"... but here too you seem to have caught a scene that resumes a lot of human condition and human history, in front of your/my/ours house. Sensitivity and contrast are film and photo dimensions, here you have completed them with the dimensions of "the eye that sees". Congrats!

Comment left by: Juan Pose (japose@adinet.com.uy) Nice neighbourhood...great photo.
What I liked the most is the going on political situation you managed to reflect in one shot.
