Subject information:	I found this interesting mushroom while out for a walk in the woods, and thught it would make a good first TOPE entry for me.

Good result for a challenging topic. Due probably to the shiny nature of the cap, you have managed to obtain some detail in the black from the reflected sky. Might benefit from some sharpening.

Thanks for the kind words! I tried sharpening before I submitted and was not happy with the results. However, when I sharpen it now it looks better to me. The power of suggestion I guess.

Darin, would you have submitted this entry into an uruguayan photo contest , you'd have received applause and lots if different lectures (views, interpretations) about it. Technically, I'd have tried to lower the angle of view, but this seems to have been impossible.
