Midnight traffic jam

Comments made by the photographer

Submitter's name: Olaf Greve
Title: Midnight traffic jam
Gear used: Olympus Camedia C2020Z
Aperture used: f2 or f2.8
Shutter speed used: Unrecorded, but it was slow, around 1 second or so
Media used: Smart Media
Technical information: I made sure the flash was off, and that I held the camera steady enough for the shot not to come out blurred. Also, I selected the angle such that as many light points as possible were present in the frame, to better show the raindrops.
Subject information: As our daughter "graciously" erased my first choice candidate shots (being cars stuck in a 'river' of water in the Venezuelan streets after a tropical rainshower), I had to come up with something else. The other day after returning from a wedding, we were stuck in a long traffic jam, and it was raining. The special mood of the rainy traffic jam, around midnight all of a sudden seemed a good fit for the theme and I shot a variety of different shots. There were several other candidates which I liked, but my first choice fell on this one, as my wife and daughter made the valid point that in this shot the 'rain aspect' was best portrayed of the lot. I hope you guys also can appreciate this seemingly mundane, yet well thought out shot. :)
